My Doctor said...

"My doctor handed the test results across to me. It was as plain as the nose on my face. I had to slow down somehow or sell my business. Slowing down wasn't an option because customers asked for me by name and I couldn't ever see that changing, because no-one could do as good a job as me. And selling business... well, the profit and loss statement had been in deficit for the past 3 years and after 25 years in the business, I'd sell it for nothing.  I had no plan. The truth hit me like a freight train.  I needed help, but I had no idea where to look.

I remember, not long after, I was going through my mail.  A brochure caught my eye was the sub-heading: "Learn how to buy, grow, value or sell your Small Business?". Included in the letter were 2 free tickets to a seminar.

One week later, I was sitting in a room with 30 odd other business people. Some had come because they were just kicking their businesses off and they wanted to make sure they did it right. Some were real go-getters and dreamers hoping to double the size of their business in the next year. Others were just interested in staying afloat. A couple were even in a similar situation to me. The presenter, a local girl Kirsten Gadsby came on stage, and got my attention by opening with "put your hands up if your business is ready to sell today". Not one hand went up!

2 hours later I realised that I had made a pivotal decision in my life by coming to the seminar.

Everything Kirsten said rang true. When she talked about the challenges that most businesses face, it sounded like she'd interviewed me. She then talked about creating a business that worked without me and investing my time in building a saleable asset just like my investment property to be managed without me or improving so much in value that someone could get a loan and buy it off me.  When Kirsten talked about growing and setting the business up for sale, she had so many suggestions that my head was spinning. I began to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

I have hope and direction, thanks to Kirsten and her team."
